How to See Your House in Google

Google added the Street View feature to its popular Google Maps site in 2007 amid an atmosphere of fascination tinged with suspicion. To appreciate just how thorough Google is, look up your home address on the site. Perhaps you'll see your car in the driveway or your half-finished landscape project. Use the 360-degree panorama to view your entire street, house by house, if you like.

      • 1

Navigate to Google Maps in any browser.

      • 2

Enter your address into the search bar and press enter. Click the orange marker that indicates your house location on the map.

      • 3

A white bubble pops up over the map. It lists your address and gives you an option to go to street view under "More." Click on "Street View."

Once you're in street view, you'll see a picture of the street you live on. When you bring your cursor over the map, you have the option to move up or down the street. Once you locate your house, click and drag on the map to turn the view around so you can see your house head on.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If the "Street View" option is greyed out, then the street view of your residence is not available.
