If you have a large crack in your concrete it will require a little more work than just applying a simple concrete patch. With theses simple steps you will know how to fix a large concrete crack
Things You'll Need
- Hammer drill
- Concrete vinyl patch
- Vinyl concrete patch
- Wooden float
You must reshape the concrete crack using a hammer drill. Chisel the concrete so the base is wider than the top of the crack. The wide base helps the concrete patch make a strong bond. Chisel out any chipped or crumbling pieces of concrete too. If you have a deep concrete crack that is deeper than ½ inch, add a bonding adhesive and let it dry overnight.
Mix your concrete patch according to the instructions provided on the bag. Next, use your trowel to patch the concrete crack. Only apply a depth of ¼ inch of concrete patch at a time. If you need more layers let the previous layer dry for a few days before adding more concrete patch.
With deep concrete cracks you will want to add some sand mix according to directions on the bag. When the concrete patch dries use a wooden float to go over the patch to match the concrete finish with the existing concrete.
