Wholesale products

In this article, you will learn how to buy and sell wholesale items. You will find ways to locate products to sell for a profit. Wholesale distributors and dropshippers can help you start a small business using very little money.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

As with any business, the first thing you need to do is to research your state laws for operating a business. Determine whether you need a tax ID, reseller’s license, etc.

  2. Step 2

Then start your product research on the internet. The internet provides a wealth of information. Start a search on any search engine by typing in words like Wholesale Products, Dropshippers and Wholesale Distributors. Sites like www.mainstreetemall.com and www.bradshawelectronics.com offer wholesale products at great prices.

  3. Step 3

In addition, look for companies that sell directly to the public. They usually do not require you to buy in bulk. They will sell smaller quantities and have low product minimums to purchase. I do not recommend purchasing third party lists or wholesale directories. It is cheaper to do the research yourself.

  4. Step 4

Check each website for customer testimonials and reviews. This information is helpful when trying to find a reputable wholesale company to deal with. This path is essential especially when dealing with dropshippers. You need to make sure your customers will receive exactly what they pay for. If they do not your business will suffer and your reputation will suffer too.

  5. Step 5

When purchasing inventory, start out small. Test the waters and see if your product choice actually sells. You do not want to spend money on a product that will make you lose money. This is where dropshipping is useful. It allows you to sell without storing inventory.

  6. Step 6

You can sell your products on Ebay, iOffer and other sites such as these. If you decide to purchase and store inventory, Amazon.com is a great place to sell your items.

Tips & Warnings
  • Research, research and research some more. Performing due diligence will eliminate many of the heartaches that can arise when you fail to fact-find.
