Step 1
Go to your bank. FICO has changed their standards again, creating a new credit scoring model called FICO 08. And as part of this, banks can now give their customers their credit scores for free.
-
Step 2
Visit Credit.com. They have a great credit score estimator tool that is absolutely free.
-
Step 3
Compare it with the even more accurate tool at CreditKarma.com. They ask for more personal information such as your social security number, but it is because they actually access your credit reports to get a more accurate score. They don't require you to input any credit card information in order to access this information for you.
CreditKarma.com also has tools that allow you to play with your credit score. You can add new credit lines, decrease credit balances, or add inquiries to see what affect they have on your credit. This will allow you to more successfully plan for your credit future.
