If you're looking to get a loan or refinance your mortgage, it may be best to look into credit repair services first. Raising your credit score before applying for a loan will save thousands of dollars over the term of the loan.

    Before looking into a credit repair services, make sure you have done everything possible to raise your own credit report score. Credit repair services can be quite expensive, and there are things you can do yourself to raise your credit score for free.   2. Step 2

    If you are not in a financial position to pay your bills on time for six months, it is useless to pay for credit repair services. After negative items are removed, your score improves; however, if you are still making late payments, your score will drop back down.

  3. Step 3

    Make sure to find a reputable credit repair company. Check companies with the BBB. If the company promises to remove all your negative information, proceed with caution. Credit repair is not 100 percent reliable. It's possible to remove negative information, but there are no guarantees. A reputable credit repair company will be upfront and honest about their services.

  4. Step 4

    Make sure to review and return all paperwork quickly. Credit repair services typically run in two to four month cycles. Your credit repair restoration company will use the law to challenge the negative information on your credit report. You will receive paperwork from the credit agencies to review. Follow the directions of your credit repair servicer and return paperwork quickly.

    Your credit score will start going up in a few months.
