Step 1
Ask a friend for help. Ask a friend or family member to help with the planning, invitations and food.
-
Step 2
Make your invitations. Instead of traditional cards in envelopes, send out postcards with a photo of your new home on the front. This is a trendy, and easy, alternative.
-
Step 3
Timing is everything. You can plan your housewarming for any time you like, but avoid scheduling it close to holidays such as Thanksgiving or Christmas.
-
Step 4
Gift Registry. Engaged couples, expecting couples- everyone seems to register for something; why can't you? Register for items you need or want but don't go overboard (you may want to skip this part if you JUST got married and received plenty of stuff).
-
Step 5
Hungry? Housewarming parties are typically informal, so show off your cooking skills or ask for everyone to bring a covered dish.
-
Step 6
Fill the time. A great way to make memories with your friends and families is to pass disposable cameras around and have everyone take random photos throughout the night- you can develop them later to remember the evening by. Another great idea is to buy a large canvas and have all of your guests pitch in to make a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork.
