Things You'll Need:
- Savings account
- Organization
- Sharpen your skills and use imagination to survive
-
Step 1
Be thriftyIt's time for quick action, take steps similar to that of emergency room peronnel. Instead of worrying about what you don't have, think about what you have and use it efficiently. Use your skills and expertise to cope with this recession. The first steps are going to be critical, reevaluate your spending habits and try at all cost to be thrifty.
-
Step 2
Don't spend money to feel betterTake a hard look at your budget, cut any unnecessary expenses and delay or eliminate any non emergency purchases. Reduce unnecessary spending by making coffee at home, don't buy junk food, if possible save gas by walking to the store or take public transportation, rent movies instead of going to the theater. Figure out how to cut your home energy cost and cook low cost nutritional meals. The money saved should be placed in a special savings account. Living through a recession may cause stress, but don't give into the temptation of spending money to feel better.
-
Step 3
Use your cash wiselyThink beyond your salary, put your talents and resources to use, look for odd jobs. Look for jobs as for example: baby sitting, running errands for sick people in the community, fixing or repairing things, tutoring children, renting a room, writing articles for ehow, knitting sweaters or making other crafts. Manage your extra cash wisely and avoid using your credit cards. If you push yourself to action, you will have somehting saved for a rainy day.
