Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

Do your research online at Creditcards.com to find the best options before you settle for the bad credit cards. In fact, ignore the junk that comes in your mailbox each day. You should always approach the company you want to do business with first.

  2. Step 2

Read the terms of service before you apply. That means you should read the small print to see how high they can increase your interest rate if you are late on a payment. Also, check to see how high the late fee is. Bad credit cards have high fees and interest rates.

  3. Step 3

Pay your bill on time each month. In fact, never spend more than you can afford to pay off in full. If you are ever late, almost every company will jack up your rate. That is an easy way to turn good companies into bad credit cards.

  4. Step 4

Steer clear of most department store lines of credit. They are very limited and don't provide you much safety in case of emergency. It's best to stick with Visa, Discover, Mastercard, or American Express rather than the bad credit cards.
