This will show you the shortest way to Change Your Desktop Wallpaper in Windows XP.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Move your mouse to any space on your Windows Desktop. (Try to choose an empty space. This will deminish the chances of accidentally launching a Desktop program.) Once you have done this, click the Right button on your mouse.

  2. Step 2

At this point, a small dropdown menu will appear. Again, using your mouse, highlight and use the left mouse button to click the Properties selection.

  3. Step 3

Click on the Desktop tab and do one or more of the following:

    a. Click a picture in the Background list.

    b. Click Browse to search for a background picture in other folders or on other drives. Note: You can use files with the following extensions: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .dib, .png, .htm.

  4. Step 4

At the Position dropdown, click Center, Tile, or Stretch

  5. Step 5

If you like, select a color from Desktop color. The color fills the space not used by a picture.

  6. Step 6

    Click the OK button.

    You're Done!
