How Do You Set the Clock on a Pioneer Car Stereo?

Very few of us hold onto car stereo instructions, yet Daylight Savings requires us to change the clock on our stereos twice a year. Pioneer has been making car stereos since the early 1970s, so there are slightly different ways to set the clock depending on when the stereo was produced.

1. Turn on your car ignition. Turn your car stereo "OFF".

2. Press and hold the "MULTI-CONTROL" button (looks like a round dial) for a few seconds until the display pop up. Rotate the "MULTI-CONTROL" button until it says "CLOCK." If you have an older model without a "MULTI-CONTROL" button, press and hold the "FUNCTION" or "AUDIO" button until the display pops up, then immediately release the button. Press the "FUNCTION" or "AUDIO" button again until the display reads "CLOCK."

3. Push the "MULTI-CONTROL" button upward and downward to adjust the hours and minutes. For older models, first press the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons to adjust the hours. Use the "LEFT" and "RIGHT" arrows to move to the minutes, then press the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons to adjust the minutes.

4. Press the "ESCAPE" or "SOURCE" button to exit.

Tips & Warnings

• If none of the steps above apply to your car stereo, you probably have a much older model. If this is the case, make sure the car ignition is on and the stereo is "OFF." While pressing and holding down the "CLOCK" button, press the "NUMBER 1" FM preset button to set the hour. Then, while pressing and holding down the "CLOCK" button, press the "NUMBER 2" FM preset button to set the minutes. Once the time is set, release the buttons.

on 8/3/2009 My pioneer car stereo has a remote control. while turning on the unit press and hold "function" in the remote control and clock settings appear, browse to the right and start setting the clock.
