Insert tissue paper into gift bags to create festive, great looking packages. Gift bags appear more complete and polished when topped off with fluffy, colorful tissue paper. Not only does the tissue paper create a nicer looking package, it also helps to protect your gift from damage. Creating that festive, polished look however, can leave you feeling like quite the artist.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose a tissue paper that coordinates with your gift bag. Multi-colored tissue paper creates a festive look. Depending on the size of your gift and bag, you may need five to ten sheets of tissue paper.

  2. Step 2

Use tissue paper to wrap loosely around the gift before placing it in the bag. If the gift is fragile, more tissue paper may be required. Tape is not required for this wrapping.

  3. Step 3

Use two to four sheets of tissue paper to pad the bottom of the bag. Loosely crumple each sheet separately. Place enough crumpled tissue in the bottom of the bag to cover it entirely.

  4. Step 4

Place the loosely wrapped gift on top of the crumpled tissue paper in the bottom of the gift bag. Be sure the gift fits down into the bag with at least a couple inches clearance between the gift and the top of the gift bag.

  5. Step 5

Spread a piece of tissue paper out on a flat surface. Grasp the middle of the piece of tissue paper between your thumb and index finger and lift the paper up. Shake it gently so that the tissue paper falls freely from the point at which you grasp it.

  6. Step 6

Slide the tissue paper down into the gift bag near the gift while still grasping it with your thumb and index finger. Allow the top of the tissue paper to fluff out of the top of the gift bag. Repeat this process two to five more times depending on the size of the gift bag and amount of room left in the bag.
