Finding a home to rent isn't always easy. When you are searching for a place to live you may find yourself competing with others in order to rent a home. If you have everything in order, then you have a better chance of getting approved. There are some things you can do ahead of time and during your interview to increase your chances.
Keep your job. The longer you have the same job, the better your chances are of getting approved. Landlords look for security. This includes seeing if the possible tenant has job security.
Put together excellent references. The landlord is going to check your references. This includes previous landlords. Make sure that you include all of the references you have that can attest to your good character and your ability to pay your bills.
Clean up your MySpace page. Landlords are now looking to the Internet to check up on people. If you have anything inappropriate on your MySpace page, clean it up.
Display good manners. When you make an appointment to see the house and fill out an application, you will want to be presentable. You don't need a shirt and tie, but you should be wearing clean clothes and have combed hair. A first impression is all you may get.
Use proper English when calling for an appointment and walking through the house. If you don't sound educated or like you care about what you are saying, you most likely won't get approved for the house.
