Things You'll Need:
- iPod connector cable
- iTunes software
- music files
-
Step 1
Download a copy of Apple's music software, iTunes, and install it onto your computer (see Resources below).
-
Step 2
Add music add to your iTunes library once you've downloaded and installed the software. There are a couple ways to do this. First, you can browse the iTunes store for music and purchase it directly. Once you purchase music, it will automatically appear in your library. If you have a CD collection you were interested in making into digital music files, simply place your CD into your CD-ROM and follow the menu prompts. Your iTunes software will automatically see that you are trying to add the CD, and prompt you to chose the entire album or which individual tracks you want to import.
-
Step 3
Locate the sync cable, and connect it at both ends. Your iPod came packaged with a white sync cord which connects to your iPod on one end, and your USB port an another end. This cord allows your iPod and your iTunes software to communicate.
-
Step 4
Open iTunes if it doesn't open automatically after you connect your iPod to your computer's USB port. Once iTunes is open, look to the right-hand side of your iTunes software for the menu column. In that column, you will find your iPod with a small iPod icon next to it.
-
Step 5
Click on your music library, which is at the top of that menu. Once your music library opens, chose a song to add to your iPod, or chose several by holding down the control key and clicking on the songs you wish to transfer. Drag these songs with your mouse over to your iPod, located in that right-hand menu. The songs are now on your iPod; double check by clicking on your iPod to see what songs it contains.
