How to Make Your Own Yankees Hat

The New York Yankees are a baseball dynasty. Throughout the baseball season, the Yankees are either the most loved or the most hated baseball team. Baseball is America's past time and the Yankees, like the Chicago Cubs, are America's team. Show your support for the New York Yankees by creating a baseball cap sporting their logo.

Things You'll Need

• 1 baseball hat (black, navy blue, gray or white)
• Fabric paint (black, navy blue, gray or white)
• Picture of the New York Yankee logo
• Masking tape

Instructions

1. Purchase a plain baseball cap. The hat color can be black, white, gray or whatever color you choose. Plain baseball caps can be purchased from a local craft store, chain store or gas station for a reasonable price.

2. Purchase fabric paint from the local craft store or chain retailer. Fabric paint usually comes in tubes or bottles that have nozzles. Buy the fabric paint that has a nozzle instead of a cap. The nozzled paint bottle is easier to control and is less messy. With fabric paint, you can create three-dimensional effects.

3. 

   Obtain an image of the New York Yankee lettering or logo. You can get this image from the team's official website or in a general online image search (see Resources).

4. Determine where you want to place the Yankee logo on the hat. Block this space off with masking tape.

5. Begin painting the image. Copy the picture you have in front of you. If you are right-handed, start painting the image from the left-side. If you are left-handed, paint on the right side first. This will prevent you from smearing the paint.

6. 

   Start with the "N" portion of the logo first. To create the "N" portion of the logo, start from the bottom left-side/upper right-side of the letter and make a line that resembles a left parenthesis marker. If you started from the upper right side, the line should look like a right parenthesis marker. Connect the two lines with a diagonal straight line, forming the "N."

7. 

   Add the "Y" portion of the letter. In the center of the "N," paint a straight line, splitting it in half. Next, add the upper left and right portion of the "Y" by adding two marks that look like apostrophes. This is the New York Yankee logo.

8. Let the paint air dry overnight.

9. Remove the masking tape after the paint has dried. The Yankees hat is complete.

10. Support the New York Yankees and cheer them toward a return to the Fall Classic. Go Yankees!

Tips & Warnings

• Let the paint dry after each letter. This will prevent smearing. Practice paint bottle control on a piece of paper first so you don't make mistakes on the hat.

• Don't wear your hat in Red Sox Nation. If you do, God bless you for your bravery.
