Things You'll Need:
- Dry or damp cloth
- Vinegar
- Vacuum cleaner
-
Step 1
Vacuum the rug regularly. This will help to extend the lifetime and keep dirt from accumulating between the fibers, making it harder to clean later.
-
Step 2
Place the rug in a dry area where it is unlikely to encounter spills or wet shoes.
-
Step 3
Spot clean the sisal rug immediately if a spill does occur to avoid further damage. Blot a dry cloth over the wet area. Do not rub the area as this will only spread it. If the spill was big enough, you may need to flip the rug over and blot the back of it as well. Do this until you have removed as much moisture as possible. If the spill was a liquid that may stain the rug, such as juice, use a mixture of half warm water and half vinegar and blot this on the stained area. Blot the area dry and repeat the process if necessary.
-
Step 4
Scrape away dried debris that may accumulate on the rug with a blunt edge. A wooden spoon should work just fine.
