A healthy colon is necessary for proper digestion. The body's waste moves through the colon before it is evacuated from the body. While the colon naturally cleanses itself, waste can sometimes remain on its walls. As a result, it's a good idea to cleanse the colon periodically. While there are a variety of colon cleansing options available, diet is the most simple, least invasive way to do so. You can quite easily make smoothies which help to cleanse the colon.
Things You'll Need
- Fresh-squeezed juice
- Flax seed oil
- Sea salt
Pour one cup of fresh-squeezed juice into a blender. You can use any kind of juice, but it should not have any added sugar. During a colon cleanse, you should avoid excess sugar. Sugar is harder for the colon to digest.
Place 3 to 5 ice cubes in the blender. This will give the smoothie a milkshake-like texture. The additional water will also help to flush toxins from the colon.
Break a banana into pieces. Put it in the blender. Bananas are high in fiber which makes for easy digestion. The fiber will also help the smoothie to efficiently move through your colon. In addition, bananas are rich in potassium, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6.
Slice an apple into chunks. Add it to the blender. Leave the skin on the apple. The skin is fiber-rich, making a good addition to your colon-cleansing smoothie.
Add orange, grapefruit or lemon pieces to the blender. The acidity of citrus fruits helps to break down mucus, toxins and plaque which may be clinging to your colon's walls.
Measure one tablespoon of flax seed oil and place it in the blender. Flax seed oil is high in fiber and helps to lubricate the digestive track.
Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt into the blender. Sea salt helps to flush bacteria from your colon, thereby aiding the cleansing process.
Blend the mixture on high for 1 to 2 minutes. For a thinner smoothie, add more juice.
