Blue's Clues is a a kids' show for toddlers and preschoolers that airs on Noggin channel. The show is educational and young viewers get to practice their observation and puzzle-solving skills. Decorating a Blue's Clues birthday party for a child can be done by making your own homemade decorations, buying some from the local party store and printing out pre-designed decorations from the Blue's Clues website. How many decorations you use will depend on how much time and resources you have. Some of the decoration materials may also be used during the party to make arts and crafts related to the theme.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bright blue streamers
  • Blue construction paper
  • Tissue box
  • Paper plate
  • White and blue chalk
  • Paw print stamp and blue or white ink
  • Cardboard and saran wrap
  • Tape
  • Paper plate
  • Brad
  • Recycled tissue box
  • Purple paint
  1. Step 1

Hang up bright blue and light blue streamers (Blue's colors). Unroll the ends slightly. Tape the ends of each together and secure to the wall with more tape. Twist the two streamer strands around each other as you unroll them. Keep the streamers slightly tight as they will droop a little before the party. Tear off the end when you get to the end of a wall or a corner. Tape the ends to the wall and start again, along the next wall. Print out free, Blue's Clues paper dolls that are attached at the ears (see Resources). Use them instead of or with the streamers.

  2. Step 2

Decorate the party area with paw prints everywhere. Cut out paw prints from blue construction paper. Cut one one large oval and three smaller ovals. When you tape them up next to each other, you can create a paw print, just like Blue on the show. Or glue them onto white paper and cut out the paw and then decorate with them. There are free paw prints that you can use, from Nickjr.com (see Resources).

  3. Step 3

Make wall hangings or centerpieces with characters from the show, including Tickity-Tock (a clock) and Mailbox. Make a clock with a paper plate, construction paper hands and a brad. Add a pink outline and two blue bells. Draw a face on the clock. Make a mailbox out of a recycled tissue box. Paint it purple and add a pink mailbox flag and draw a face on the front. Use any recycled plastic bottle to make Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper.

  4. Step 4

Decorate the tablecloth with a red and white checked tablecloth. Use white paper plates and cups to save money, otherwise go for blue. Place small toy pails and shovels out with treats to mimic Shovel and Pail from the show. Make place mats kids can color by printing out Blue's Clues coloring pages from Nickjr.com and leaving them on the table for the kids (see Resources).

  5. Step 5

Make a giant, pretend magnifying glass to put on the entryway door to show guests it's time to look for clues. Cut a circle out of a piece of cardboard, then cut out the center to make a giant ring. Add a long, cardboard handle painted gray. Tape plastic wrap on the back of it and hang it on the door. The outside may also be decorated with washable sidewalk chalk. Draw big blue paw prints leading to the door, weather permitting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Decorate with light and bright blue and white. Add touches of yellow and red to match the show.
  • Do not use blue streamers outside as the colors can run.
