Install Yahoo Messenger Webcam

Webcams offer people the ability to communicate "face to face" over long distances without having to drive long hours or take an expensive airplane flight. In order to use your webcam to communicate with other people you will need to install a video conference program such as Yahoo Instant Messenger.

Instructions

1. Open your web browser and navigate to the Yahoo website. Click on the link to go to the Yahoo Messenger page.

2. 

   Click the button that says "Download Now" and wait for the executable file to finish downloading. Open up the folder where you downloaded the file and double-click it to begin the installation process.

3. Choose the drive and folder where you want the Yahoo Messenger program to be installed and wait for the installation to finish.

4. Plug your webcam into your computer and install it's associated software if you have not already done so. Open the Yahoo Messenger program and pick a user name and password.

5. Click on the "Contacts" button on the top menu bar and then choose the option to "Add A New Contact." Enter in the Yahoo user ID or e-mail address of the person you want to contact with your webcam.

6. Click on the "Messenger" button and then choose the "My Webcam" option to activate your Webcam. Double-click on the User ID of the person you want to talk to and then click the "Webcam" button to initiate a video conference.

Tips & Warnings

• Check to make sure that your webcam is compatible with the Yahoo Messenger program before installing it by navigating your browser to the Yahoo compatibility test page (see link in the Resources below).
