Wear and tear can work the grip of a golf club into a cracked mess. When a golf club grip is cracked and falling apart, the golfer's swing is hindered. It's actually fairly easy to replace the golf club grip with a little direction.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Knife
  • Double-sided sticky tape
  • Soap
  • Water
  • Grease
  1. Step 1

Use the knife to make a slit along the old grip down to the club itself. Do this carefully, since you do not want to scratch the club.

  2. Step 2

Remove the old double-sided tape from the club and clean the club's shaft with soap and water. Be thorough as to remove any dirt, grime or residue of the tape.

  3. Step 3

Wrap new double-sided tape around the shaft. Hold the new grip next to the club handle to size it up. Draw a line an inch above the bottom of where the grip will rest on the shaft. Wrap the new tape all the way down the shaft to that mark. Make sure you do not overlap the tape. Any overlaps will cause bumps in the grip.

  4. Step 4

Use a bit of grease to make the shaft of the club more slippery and receptive to the grip.

  5. Step 5

Slide the new grip onto the club. You may need twist and push the grip on, but the grease should help.

  6. Step 6

Let the club dry for up to an hour, so the tape has a chance to bond to the grip.
