Laminate wood flooring is a popular covering. It is easy to install, it adds beauty to your home, and it's easy to take care of.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dust mop
  • Soft bristled broom
  • Vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment
  • Soft mop
  • Soft, clean cloths
  1. Step 1

Remove dirt and dust from a laminate wood flooring, using a dust mop or a soft bristled broom. You can also use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. The advantage of a vacuum is that it sucks up the dirt in the seams. It's important to sweep the floor on a regular basis to remove dirt that can scratch or damage the surface.

  2. Step 2

Mop the floor occasionally with a soft, damp mop. Lightly moisten the mop using a spray bottle filled with water. Do not use a bucket of water. To remove stubborn stains or dirt, rub with a damp sponge. To finish, wipe a clean, dry cloth over the entire laminate wood flooring.

  3. Step 3

Place absorbent doormats at every entranceway to help keep dirt and moisture off the flooring. Throw rugs and mats placed here-and-there will also trap dirt and help protect laminate wood flooring. Wipe up water from wet shoes and boots immediately with a soft cloth.

  4. Step 4

Place rubber casters or felt pads under the legs of furniture to prevent them from denting the wood flooring. To move furniture, pick it up off the floor; never slide it to prevent scratching and gouging. Fix minor scratches and nicks by using a repair paste that's specially designed for laminate wood flooring. You can find these pastes at local home improvement stores.

Tips & Warnings
  • Because of its lasting beauty and shine, laminate wood flooring never needs to be polished or waxed. Read the instructions that came with the wood flooring or contact the manufacturer if you have questions about the care.
  • Do not get the laminate wood flooring wet with water. Excess water can cause the floor to expand.
