How to Make a Mortgage Payment
Years ago there were only one or two ways in which homeowners could make mortgage payments. Things have changed drastically. With online banking and the availability of online fund transfers, homeowners have several ways in which they can make their monthly mortgage payments. The good thing about having so many choices is that homeowners don't have to stick to one method of paying their mortgage. They can use whichever method suits their need at the time of payment.

1
Make a payment in person. You can go to a bank branch in your area and make a mortgage payment in person. While this may not be the most efficient way to pay your mortgage, it is an option.

2
Pick up the phone and make an automated payment. Most banks offer phone payment services. As long as you are prepared with your mortgage account number, your bank's routing number, your checking account number and a pin number, you can make mortgage payments via phone. This option is especially convenient if for some reason you forgot to send your mortgage payment on time.

Pay online via the mortgage company's website. You can long onto your mortgage company's website and register to make mortgage payments online. Depending on the time of day you access the company's website, your payment can be processed within 24 hours.

4
Use your own bank's online payment processing system. Another online option is to pay your mortgage payment through your own bank's online payment system. You can schedule the payment and your bank will transfer the money on the date you select.

5
Schedule your payments using software. If you keep track of your household finances through software such as Quicken or QuickBooks, you can schedule your mortgage payment right from the software on your computer. The caveat is that you must allow sufficient processing time to ensure your payment gets to the mortgage company on time.
