How to Switch My IPod from a PC to a Mac
All models of the Apple iPod are compatible with both Mac and Windows systems, but once you connect your iPod to a computer, it becomes attached to that specific operating system. However, if you purchase a new computer or want to sync your iPod to a different system, you may want to switch your iPod between operating systems. This article explains how to switch an iPod from a PC connection to a Mac connection.
Things You'll Need
- Mac computer running OS X 10.4 or later
- iPod
- iPod USB cable
- USB or Firewire hard drive

Connect your iPod to your PC computer with the iPod USB cable and allow it to complete a full sync through iTunes.

Click on the "Restore" button on the main iPod page of iTunes. This will restore your iPod to its original factory settings and erase its connection to the PC computer.

Eject and unplug your iPod from the PC computer once the restore process has been completed.
