Things You'll Need:
- Basket
- Candy
- Special item for gift recipient
- Red tissue paper
- Pink cellophane
- Red bow

Step 1
Find the perfect container. Your gift "basket" can be anything from a vintage hat box to a fishing tackle box. Think about the gift basket recipient and try to get him a box or basket that he can use for another functional purpose. Teenage girls might like a cool makeup case (the ones that look like mini luggage) filled with Valentine treats, a husband might enjoy a new tool box or cooler, and a wife may like to get a special basket that can later hold knitting yarn or bath towels.
-
Step 2
Get something special. Have at least one thing that's extra special be the highlight of the basket. For example, you might want to include a nice necklace for a woman, a new fishing lure or reel for a man, and an iPod shuffle or other MP3 player for a teen.
-
Step 3
Go traditional. No Valentine's Day is complete without chocolates, so add some of their favorites. Think about colorful candies like foiled Kisses or truffles, or go personal and order some personalized M&Ms online (see Resources below). Add some traditional "conversation" hearts or a mixed collection of chocolates to fill the basket.
-
Step 4
Add a card. Create a little note card with a romantic thought to go in the basket. You can quote a famous love poem or write one of your own, but keep it sweet and personal.
-
Step 5
Wrap it up. Stuff some pink or red tissue paper amongst the items to cushion them, then close the lid or wrap the whole thing up in colored cellophane (available at gift or party stores). Tie a big red bow on top, and you are ready to impress.
