Step 1
This is the most important step in meeting your natural diet goals. Eat as many whole, raw vegetables and fruits as you can consume. Avoid food from packages, food with artificial sweeteners, MSG, soda, fast food, refined foods (white sugar and white flour), and high fructose corn syrup. This step will be easier to read than it is to follow. It can be done. Begin by making sure you have plenty of raw fruits and vegetables on hand, so you won't be tempted to eat other things. Eat fruits and vegetables as often as you like to avoid the temptation of other foods.
-
Step 2
Consider a diet of organic fruits and vegetables. There are new studies that indicate pollution and pesticides can actually make you fat! Check out the resource section below for more information.
-
Step 3
Consider a diet of juiced fruits and vegetables. Although your body needs the fiber of whole fruits and vegetables, if you grow tired of eating them this way, juicing can be an easy way to get a lot of the nutritional benefits into your diet and give you the extra energy boost you need.
-
Step 4
Drink a full glass of water as soon as you wake up. This should ideally be filtered water. You should ensure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day, as well. It will naturally help you feel fuller and it will keep your body hydrated. An easy way to make sure you are getting enough water in your diet is to fill a container that holds approximately 8 glasses of water (for an adult) in the morning. Make sure it is empty by the time you end your day.
-
Step 5
The value of walking and sweating should not be underestimated. You don't have to overdo it, just get out and get moving at a slow and steady pace. Walking boosts your metabolism and naturally helps you meet your diet goals.
-
Step 6
Eat lean meats, such as chicken, turkey, fish, beans, and nuts. Avoid overly fatty meat and pork.
-
Step 7
Become an expert at reading labels. Most labels contain complicated words that can't be deciphered easily. Do a little research and learn what is in packaged food. Soon it will not seem as appealing to you.
-
Step 8
Don't allow yourself to feel deprived. If you are in a situation where you feel tempted to eat something less than healthy, know yourself. If saying, "no," will leaving you feeling deprived, go ahead and treat yourself. Feeling deprived leads to binge eating later and should be avoided. If you suffer from emotional eating, get in touch with the triggers and make a plan to avoid them.
