Getting tickets to the Oprah Winfrey Show may seem like the impossible task. Brokers, re-sellers and less than stellar individuals will gladly attempt to sell you tickets to the Oprah Show in Chicago. Oprah tickets, however, are simply not for sale. You can get tickets to the Oprah Winfrey Show only by contacting the show itself. A little perseverance and some helpful tips can make all the difference in getting tickets. The steps below will show you how to get Oprah tickets for free.

1. Visit the Oprah Winfrey Show audience reservation page at http://www.oprah.com/audience during the first week of each month, August to November and January through May. These months are the only ones in which tickets may be offered as the show does not tape in December, June or July.

2. Call the reservations hotline at the designated time and day provided on the "audience reservations" page. The reservation lines are typically open only 1 day a month, from 10 AM to 3 PM CST.

3. Continue redialing the reservation hotline until you are connected to the hotline. Most likely a message will play when you get through instructing you to hold the line for assistance. It may take several hours of making multiple calls to get through to the reservation line. Volume seems to be lowest after 11 AM and after the top of each hour.

4. Provide the operator with your information and the information of up to 3 guests. You may be offered a number of taping dates to choose from, all in the next month. You may also be allowed to choose from a 7 AM arrival time or an 11 AM arrival time.

5. If you are unable to get tickets to the Oprah Winfrey show on the day the phone lines are open, continue to monitor the audience reservation page for last minute opportunities.

Tips & Warnings

• The phone lines are busiest when they first open. Try calling at least 1 hour after the line has opened.
