I love our Swifter WetJet mop, it makes cleaning the floor a breeze. I also like the scent of the cleaning solution that snaps onto the gadget and squirts on the floor when I push a button. But, in these trying economic times, all of us are looking for ways to save money. Recently we got a puppy, and during the housebreaking stage we were using our Swifter mop - a lot! What I didn't like is the fact that the cleaning solution does not come in a refillable bottle. And if you pull an empty bottle from the mop handle, you can't simply unscrew the lid and refill it with your own cleaner. But, necessity really is the mother of invention. There is a way to refill the bottle.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Electric drill
  • Tiny cork
  • Funnel
  • Cleaning solution of water and vinegar
  1. Step 1

Do not remove the empty of bottle of cleaning solution from the mop.

  2. Step 2

Drill a hole (a size that will allow the cork to fit into the hole) on the bottom of the cleaner solution. This will be the end of the bottle that is on the top, when the bottle is inserted into the Swifter mop.

  3. Step 3

Fill your bottle with your own cleaner, such as a mixture of water and distilled white vinegar. Use a small funnel in this step.

  4. Step 4

Seal the hole with the cork.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a piece of electrical tape to cover the hole, if you don't have a cork.
  • Never mix ammonia and bleach - the combination is deadly.
