Essential Oils

People know essential oils can be used in many different ways to be beneficial to your body. One of the ways is to prevent dandruff. I'm not saying try it once and POOF it's gone. But it doesn't have harsh chemicals and has longer effects than regular dandruff shampoos

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
    Coo Coo for Coconut

    Coo Coo for Coconut

Take the coconut oil and pour out about 1/4 cup into a bowl. Warm it up by popping it into the microwave for about 5 to 8 sec. It just needs to be slightly warm. The coconut oil is going to be your base/carrier base. Coconut oil will keep you hair soft and scalp from itching. It's also has a anti fungal property to it.

  2. Step 2
    Add the oil

    Add the oil

Add five drops of lemon grass oil and 25 drops of tea tree oil into the coconut oil. Mix the ingredients up by stirring with your finger. Both lemon grass and tea tree oils acts as a antiseptic and also have anti fungal properties. Tea tree cleanses and lemon grass relaxes your scalp.

  3. Step 3

Massage the concoction into your scalp by using circular motions. This also exfoliates the skin and lets the skin absorb the properties of the oils.

  4. Step 4
    Relax....

    Relax....

Wrap a warm towel on your head and relax for about an hour. You can somewhat feel a tingling sensation on your scalp.

  5. Step 5

After just hop into a shower and shampoo and condition like you normally would. Repeat this treatment about twice a week.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also use unscented shampoos and add few drops of the lemon grass and tea tree oil to that.
  • Make sure to use undiluted essential oils, NOT the premixed ones.
  • Since undiluted oil is strong, you don't need that much of it, that's why you need a carrier base. The carrier base distributes the oils evenly plus the base itself can be beneficial as well.
  • People that have sensitive skin should NOT use essential oils as it will cause irritations. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor before use.
