American Idol Fans!
Enjoy this fun take on the well-known Super Bowl pool. The American Idol pool is a great way to share the American Idol experience with your friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A group of players
  • An amount for each of the players to throw into the pool.
  • Score cards
  • Score keeper
  1. Step 1

Select a group of friends who will participate in the pool and set a bet limit. Set the limit at whatever amount seems appropriate for the group. All players will put the designated amount in the pool envelope for the scorekeeper to hold until the end of the game.

  2. Step 2

The game begins once the 12 finalists are named. On the first night of the competition, all pool participants place the name of the contestant they think will win in a sealed envelope. This cannot be changed.

  3. Step 3

Each week, the pool participants will cast a vote at the end of the "Performance night" indicating who they think is going home. Points are scored as follows: If the contestant voted for is in the bottom three, the player earns 1 point. If the contestant voted for goes home, the player receives 2 points.

  4. Step 4

Points are earned as above for all weeks. After the winner is announced, each player reveals their pick for the winner by opening the envelope containing their vote from week one. If the contestant selected was in the Top 3, score 10 points. If the contestant was one of the top two finalists, score 15 points. If you actually selected the winner, score 25 points.

  5. Step 5

The player with the highest total of points is the winner of the American Idol pool and the money!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure that all weekly votes are cast BEFORE the results show.
  • If the players in the pool can meet each week for results show, that's great. And, a lot of fun.
  • Use email to send votes to scorekeeper before the weekly results show.
  • Definitely hold a party for the finale night!
