Yummy Sweet Potato Fries

Can't drive by a fast food restaurant without your children begging you to stop in for the latest toy and a bag of greasy fries? The perfect remedy is just at your finger tips, the Sweet Potato Fry! Loaded with fiber and beta carotene, these healthy sweet potato fries are extremely easy to make and always beat out their fried counter parts in taste tests! No more fast food fries for you and your family!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • sea salt and black pepper to taste
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Slice sweet potatoes into thin chips. For a wider chip, try cutting the sweet potato on an angle. This method is perfect for small hands, making the fries an excellent first food for infants.

  3. Step 3

Spread olive oil on a cookie sheet and coat sweet potatoes evenly. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  4. Step 4

Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. For a crisper chip, flip over half way during cooking process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with ketchup, mango salsa, or add some cinnamon and sugar instead of the salt and pepper for a more dessert-like chip. For a nuttier flavor, you can replace the olive oil with sesame oil and coat with sesame seeds, which are loaded with calcium. Enjoy!

on 5/27/2009 Great idea! Sometimes the tastier, healthier way happens to be the easier way as well. Thank you.

on 2/8/2009 Great article! The olive oil contains healthy monounsaturated fats, so it's great that your instructions call for it. I've made this recipe and the sweet potato fries turn out pretty darn tasty.
