Things You'll Need:
- Paddle & ball
- Ping Pong table
-
Step 1
Hold paddle with either a traditional (handshake) grip or with two fingers (2nd and 3rd) on the back side of the paddle - opposite of the side you'll hit the ball with.
-
Step 2
To create a top spin, hit the ball with an upward, sweeping motion. Think of trying to come over the top of the ball while hitting it forward. This is the harder of the two spins to create and will probably take the most practice.
-
Step 3
To create a back spin, hit the ball with a downward, slicing motion. Think of trying to slice something at a 45 degree angle while hitting it forward.
-
Step 4
Practice, practice, practice! Although not particularly difficult to master, adding spin will improve your game considerably once you master it.
