Things You'll Need:

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 3/4 cups of baking soda
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2/3 cups of cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • frosting:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tbs of butter-room temp
  • 4 tbs milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla Extract
  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325 deg. In a large bowl sift the flour with sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Add in Cocoa as well.

  2. Step 2

add in 2/3 cup of room temperature butter and 2/3 cup of water, mix on medium with electric mixer for about 2 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Add in 1/3 water, 3 eggs and vanilla extract, beat another 2 minutes. if you are beating by hand beat vigorously. An electric mixer is a lot better, saves time and energy.

  4. Step 4

Now line your cupcakes tins and gently fold into each tin with the filling. Bake for 15 minutes. When done allow to cool for about 20 minutes.

  5. Step 5

In a bowl mix room temperature butter, milk, powdered sugar and vanilla. If it comes out too thin, add more powdered sugar, too thick drizzle in more milk. When cupcakes cool, begin to ice. If desired, add a bit of red or pink food coloring for valentine's day. Enjoy!
