Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
-
Step 1
Start early in the morning. Millions of people see Craigslist per day. It's almost guaranteed that a two-day old job has already been taken.
-
Step 2
Search under 'gigs'. The writing/editing jobs section tends to contain more long term positions.
-
Step 3
Don't just search your city. Search other places because, often, the city is where the poster is located, not where the job must be handled. You can find more long-distance writing jobs this way.
-
Step 4
Have a writing resume ready. Many online writing jobs require a cover letter, samples and resume. Quick submission is important.
-
Step 5
Look out for scams. One sign of a scam is when the poster requires you to submit fresh work before they consider you for a paying job. The reason why they want you to write them a fresh article for a 'sample' is so they can take your article for free. After submitting that sample, you'll probably never hear from them again.
-
Step 6
Don't turn your nose up at the non-paying jobs, especially for short creative works like poems and short stories. Sometimes exposure is as good as money.

on 11/6/2009 Some may say "no one would go through the trouble" to have me write an article that they need written, just to steal your work and act like your story was no good anyway. good advice, we never know what could be going on. 5* and r
