Sell your Photos or Artwork Online
Sell your Photos or Artwork Online

Take awesome pictures? Great artist? This is a step by step guide that will show you how to sell your photos or artwork online.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photographs/Artwork by YOU.
  1. Step 1
    Get organized!
    Get organized!

Gather your photos/artwork that you think would sell well. Choose ones that are clear, concise, detailed, and of course, by YOU.

  2. Step 2
    Sign up!

Make sure to read the terms and conditions as to what they are looking for. Some require you to pass a photography test.
    1. Big Photo Stock
    2. Fotolia
    3. Dreamstime
    4. Can Stock Photo
    5. Shutterstock
    6. Crestock
    7. Feature Pics
    (Links in Resources below)

  3. Step 3

Start UPLOADING! When uploading a picture that has a face (family, coworkers, friends) or property (home, car, building) in it you will need to include a model/property release with it. If the person in the picture is a recognizable face (celebrities, famouse people, president, etc) you won't need a model release - just choose the editorial option.

  4. Step 4
    Sell Sell Sell
    Sell Sell Sell

If you choose to sell your photos "exclusively" to a certain website, you might make more for one photo but have to sell your copyrights. But if you choose to sell your photos "royalty-free", you get paid per download and get to keep all copyrights. Most of these websites will pay via Paypal (paypal.com) so make sure you've signed up for that. Just watch the money start rolling in!

Tips & Warnings
  • Selling your photos royalty-free will allow you to upload your photographs/artwork on different sites, instead of one website.
  • Photos that show a concept - love, hate, work, angry are more likely to get accept over photos like flowers, dogs, babies (which they probably have an abundance of)
  • You may get your photos/artwork denied, but you can always offer to put it on the free section of the webpages to get your "name" out there.
