You never know when your area may be hit with an ice storm (unless of course, you live towards the equator). An ice storm can quickly turn ugly. It can leave you without electricity, heat, and even a safe way to work. It is important to be prepared for the worst.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Make sure to park all vehicles in a safe place, such as a garage if possible. Trees will freeze. When the limbs get too heavy from all the ice, they will break off. When they do, they could fall on things such as vehicles.

  2. Step 2

As the ice falls, it could also make the power lines to heavy. Therefore, they could break, leaving you without power. Have a generator handy. Make sure you know how to properly use it. Running it inside could cost you your life.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you have plenty of bottled water. Pipes could freeze and you would be without running water.

  4. Step 4

It would not be a bad idea to keep a little rock salt handy to rid any outdoor walkways, steps, and steps of ice. Therefore, if you must go outside, you will not fall.
