This also can help you out for bus and train information. Make sure you have change of dollar, when you travel in NJ transit bus, as bus driver do not have any change. Dont forget to check for the travel deals on the website. -

For traveling in NY, get useful information from www.mta.info. Check out for the deals. For subways, you can also get helpful hints and direction from Subway reception (Not sure what they call, but there is always a man/woman sitting in a close cabin, inside subway station to help you out)
