Delete a Playlist on an iPod Nano

iPod makes it very easy to take your favorite music with you wherever you go. Adding a playlist is as simple as dragging it from iTunes into your player--but what happens when you want to delete that playlist? Deleting a playlist is just as easy as adding one. All it requires is a few clicks.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • iPod connector cable
  • USB port
  • iTunes
  1. Step 1
USB end of the sync cable
USB end of the sync cable

Plug the USB end of the sync cable to your computer. This cord allows your computer to communicate with your iPod, and also charges the battery.

  2. Step 2

Connect the other end of the cable to the bottom of your iPod. iTunes software should open immediately. If it does not open automatically after plugging in your iPod, open the program manually by double-clicking on the iTunes desktop icon or selecting it from the "Start" menu.

  3. Step 3

In the menu column on the right-hand side of your iTunes program, locate your iPod. It will be listed by the name you gave it when you installed it, and will have an icon of an iPod next to it. This is the same place you drag music and playlists when adding them to your iPod.

  4. Step 4

Locate the playlist you want to delete. If you do not see any of your playlists, check for a sideways arrow icon next to your iPod or any folders listed directly below it. Clicking those will expand the iPod menu and open the folder where you have your playlists stored.

  5. Step 5

Right-click on the playlist you wish to delete. A menu will appear with several options. "Delete" is the very last option, located at the bottom of the menu. Select "Delete" from the menu and click "OK" to confirm that you want to delete that playlist. You can also do this by selecting the playlist by single-clicking it, and pressing the "delete" key on your keyboard.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't unplug your iPod if it is flashing the "Do not disconnect" warning. Wait until it indicates that the device is finished, and is safe to unplug.
