Bamboo blinds can be a beautiful addition to the inside or the outside of your home. As tightly woven as they are though, they are prime areas for mold and mildew to grow in a humid area such as the bathroom or the porch.

    Clean Mildew Off Blinds

  1. Step 1

Remove your blinds from where they are hanging.

  2. Step 2

Dunk the blinds in a solution of one part bleach and two parts water.

  3. Step 3

Use a soft cloth to wipe away any mildew and debris. Dunk the blinds again, if necessary.

  4. Step 4

Place blinds outside to air dry in the sun. It is important to ensure that the blinds are completely dry before rolling them up or hanging them up again.

  5. Prevent Mildew on Blinds

  6. Step 1

Apply a fungicide liberally to your blinds to prevent mold in the future. This should be reapplied on a monthly basis.

  7. Step 2

Blinds kept in high humidity areas are prone to mildew, so they will need to be cleaned on a regular basis.

  8. Step 3

    Never roll up wet blinds.
