How to Program a Bluetooth Remote Control

Your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone or remote can be adapted into a universal controller of your computer. With the appropriate software, you can play multimedia applications like iTunes, Winamp and Power Point. You can even use it as a mouse for your computer.

Instructions

1. Install the latest software and device driver on your computer. This should be compatible with your Bluetooth device.

2. 

   Set the Bluetooth device in a discovery mode to prepare it for configuration with the computer. Place the device in close proximity to the computer or the Bluetooth dongle, then navigate through the software to search for and identify the Bluetooth device.

3. Know that you may be prompted to key in the pin numbers to pair the devices. In most cases, this will occur automatically.

4. 

   If you are using a mobile phone, recognize that you may need to program the buttons or map the keypad. It will depend upon the application you intend to use. For example, you will need to program the buttons on the phone keypad for play, fast-forward, rewind and similar functions.

5. Save the keypad configuration. You will need to repeat Step 4 for each application you want to use with your mobile phone or remote.
