Instructions

    • 1

Prep your area. Set up your large basin either outside, in a basement or a garage to avoid a mess. If using the fabric dye, follow the instructions to determine the temperature needed and how much water to use. Mix your dye appropriately.

    • 2

Take down your mini blinds and tape the strings together to keep them out of the way. If the fabric blind has plastic mounts, the dye won't bleed over. If they're wood or another material, tape over them to avoid dye transfer.

    • 3

Immerse the mini blinds completely in the dye. It's best to have a little slack (instead of having the blinds taut) to ensure the dye spreads evenly over the fabric. Leave the fabric in the dye according to the instructions.

    • 4

Once the color is to your liking, lay the mini blinds on the plastic drop cloth to dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're leery of fabric dye, you can also use fabric paint to change the color of the blinds. It's more time consuming, and depending on the paint you may turn the shade more opaque than you wanted.
