Many women value a fresh manicure and the way it makes them feel, but don't have the extra cash to make weekly pilgrimages to the salon. Others are concerned about the recent warnings regarding the chemical contents of nail polish and the impact it may have on the body. Olive oil and a nail buffer can substitute for a regular manicure no matter what your reasons are, and is very easy to do.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Make sure your nails are clean and dry. Remove any remaining nail polish you may be wearing. Shape your nails and trim your cuticles. File the edges of your nails smooth. This will be the basis of your manicure.

  2. Step 2

To achieve the polished look without polish, first take your nail buffer and buff each nail. This is the key to achieving this look, so take your time and make sure you have buffed each nail to a high shine. Wash your hands to remove any leftover dust that may have accumulated on or around your nails.

  3. Step 3

Pour about a tablespoon of olive oil in a bowl. Dip your finger in the oil and use it to massage the oil into your nails and cuticles. This will enhance the shine you have created with your buffer and moisturize your nail bed.

  4. Step 4

To maintain this look, repeat Step 3 each day. Your nails will look like you have been to a salon and and had a professional manicure with a clear coat of nail polish.
