How to Make a Computer Skin
Computer skins are special vinyl stickers that are specially made to cover your computer. They can protect your computer from superficial scratches and marks, as well as showcase your own personal style. Customized skin services are relatively easy to find over the Internet, and with just a little bit of creativity you can have a stylish computer.

1
Come up with a design. It can be a personal drawing, a favorite design, or even a slogan you like. Whatever it is, think about whether you would like to see it on your computer, and go from there.
-
2
Digitize your image. If the image has been hand-drawn, scan it into your computer using a flat-bed scanner and save it as a .JPG file.

3
Find a custom skinning service. There are plenty of Internet-based companies that do custom skins, such as Schtickers and LeftSkins, which allow you to use your own designs.
-
4
Upload your image. Custom skinning websites need to know what you want your skin to look like, so you will need to upload your image to the skin manufacturer's server. Although this process will vary by company, it generally involves creating a log-in name and then finding an "upload" tool.
-
5
Tweak your design. Most custom skin sites have a template editor tool that allows you to crop and rotate your uploaded image until it looks just the way you want it to.
-
6
Place your order. Once your virtual skin looks exactly the way you want it to, place your order with the skinning service and then wait for it to arrive. Generally this will take one to two weeks, depending on the service.

Tips & Warnings
In addition to adding skins to your laptop, you can also add them to other electronics like hand-held video game consoles, iPods, and cell phones.
Because the adhesive used in making skins is sensitive to heat and moisture, it is important to keep your electronic device in a cool, dry place.
