Peeling tomatoes can be a difficult, time consuming task. So, here is an easy way to get it done fast, by blanching.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tomatoes
  • Large pot of boiling water
  1. Step 1

    Wash tomatoes and set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Blanch the tomatoes.

  3. Step 3

Place your pot of water on the stove over high heat. Place enough water in the pot to completely cover the tomatoes.

  4. Step 4

When the water comes to a rolling boil, lower the tomatoes into the water with a large spoon. Do not pile tomatoes on top of each other, there should be a little space between them.

  5. Step 5

After the water has began boiling again, check the skins of one tomato. The skins should split open a little and should slide off when you lightly rub a wooden spoon across the top of it. Careful, it is hot.

  6. Step 6

If the skin slide off, they are done. Take them out of the hot water to cool. Just slide the skins right off after cooled.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not boil the tomatoes too long, they will get mushy.
  • Wait until the tomatoes are cool to remove the skins.
  • Careful when dropping the tomatoes in the boiling water.
  • No kids near the pot.
