Here you will learn how to get rid of cockroaches.

All of these methods are safe for children, pets and the environment.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Duct tape.
  • Eco-friendly sticky mouse traps.
  • Coffee grounds.
  • Large glass jars or containers.
  1. Step 1
    Small cockroach.

Clean up any crumbs that the cockroaches might be eating. Do this at least once, every day.

  2. Step 2

Seal any food containers using tight fitting lids.

  3. Step 3

Vacuum the floor daily to eliminate potential food sources.

  4. Step 4

Seal up any cracks in your house as much as possible.

  5. Step 5

Fix leaky faucets and try to eliminate any water sources.

  6. Step 6

Locate the cockroach dens and leave traps all around these areas.

Roaches start to explore their environment as soon as they don't sense any danger. They will begin mapping out the corners and walls with pheromones. Then they will move on to exploring the rest of your house.

Set traps for roaches along walls and anywhere that they might be living, eating, drinking or breeding.

  7. Step 7
    Duct tape trap for cockroaches.

Put out Duct tape traps in places that the cockroaches have been hanging around.

Clump the duct tape up into balls with as much sticky surface as possible.

During the night and anytime that it is dark the roaches will come out of their hiding spots to search for food. This is when the roaches will be likely to get stuck to the Duct tape.

The roaches will see the ball of tape as a safe place to hide and they will instantly get stuck to it.

Replace used duct tape traps once a week to maintain the tapes stickiness.

  8. Step 8

Lean a large glass jug or jar against your house to make a Las Vegas roach trap.

Pour 2 - 3 inches of water into the jar and add in some used coffee grounds.

When they are in search of food or water the roaches will crawl up your wall and fall into the jar. They will be wet and unable to crawl back out of the glass container.

This trap might not work for tiny, baby cockroaches because they can easily climb up glass. However, your chances are great due to the roach being wet because it fell into the liquid.

  9. Step 9

Place (safe, non-toxic) sticky mouse traps in areas that cockroaches have been visiting.

The roaches will get stuck to the 'sticky' traps at which point you can throw them away in the garbage.

Place a small piece of white bread in the middle of the trap to lure the roaches.

  10. Step 10
    Empty cockroach egg case.

Search behind and underneath everything in your house and remove any cockroach eggs or egg cases immediately upon finding them.

Eliminate any potential food and water sources for the roaches.

Hunt the roaches down and trap them. Smash any cockroach that you can catch using a tissue or napkin.

on 8/30/2009 Good information and the duct tape does work, it is kind of creepy but better than having the bugs around.
