Things You'll Need:
- Clean bathtub or sink
- Baby shampoo
- Towels
- Hair drier
-
Step 1
Prepare the tub or sink by letting the water run so the bottom is covered with about 3 inches of water. Make sure the water is Warm but not too warm. While the tub is still filling up pour a little baby shampoo into the water so it mixes it around.
-
Step 2
Next get your bird and gently set them into the water.
They might get fussy but don't worry it will not harm them. -
Step 3
Start buy pouring the soapy water over their whole body, making sure to get under their wings and on their belly.
Do this for a few minutes until they are completely wet. -
Step 4
Pull the bird out of the tub and wrap them in a bath towel for a few minutes. When they have gotten most of the water off of them set them on a perch or on the floor and blow dry them with the blow drier, making sure not to get too close or get them too hot.

on 7/29/2009 It's not necessary to use any kind of shampoo or soap when encouraging your bird to bathe, and force bathing your bird only makes the interaction negative.
Plain rain water does the trick just fine (as it would do in the wild) and a hair drier is not necessary either, but only an added element of danger. Birds dry off by preening themselves and shaking off dander. It's not good to towel dry them like you would a baby. They bathe much differently.
Here are some articles on how to get your bird to bathe in numerous different ways on its own: http://jamiesparrothelp.wordpress.com/2008/03/13/parrot-bathing/ and http://jamiesparrothelp.wordpress.com/category/parrot-bathing/
