You will not only save money by making your own household cleaners, but you'll be doing everyone in your home a favor by going green. These lovely nontoxic cleaners are a fabulous way to get environmentally friendly.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Buy only what you'll use. Essential oils can be found at health food stores, drugstores, and online. My favorites are lemon, mint, lavender and eucalyptus, but feel free to experiment with scents. Get a large amount of vinegar, and a few spray bottles at any dollar store.

  2. Step 2

For a window cleaner, fill a spray bottle with water and add 3 tablespoons of vinegar. Add a few drops of essential oil (I like eucalyptus for this one) and mix together. Just use this as you normally would any window cleaner.

  3. Step 3

For a great all purpose cleanser, pour half water and half vinegar into a spray bottle. I like using peppermint oil for this, add a few drops and mix well. This is great for your kitchen, bathroom or any tile surface.

  4. Step 4

For an easy furniture polish, use a half teaspoon olive oil and 1/4 cup vinegar. I always add a bit of lemon essential oil for a really nice smell.

Tips & Warnings
  • Store bottles in a cleaning tote or caddy under your sink with microfiber cloths that can be reused.
  • Even though these are all nontoxic, still make sure small children or animals do not ingest.
