How to make Taco Soup with Your Food Storage

Tough economic times are affecting families all over the United States. Food storage has become an essential for Americans. Some food storage staples include flour, sugar, beans, wheat, rice and canned vegetables. There is an easy and delicious way to use beans, corn, diced tomatoes or tomato sauce to prepare a yummy taco soup that everyone can enjoy. This soup recipe is not only good to eat but inexpensive to make.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can corn
  • 3 small cans diced tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • 1 small can diced green chilies
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 1 package ranch dressing mix
  • Grated cheddar or monteray jack cheese
  • Sour cream
  1. Step 1

    Brown the ground beef in a large skillet or soup pot. Drain the excess grease.

  2. Step 2

    Add the taco seasoning packet and ranch dressing mix and stir into the ground beef.

  3. Step 3

    Pour in the cans of kidney beans, black beans, canned corn and green chilies without draining the juice.

  4. Step 4

    Add the cans of diced tomatoes or tomato sauce and stir together all ingredients. Simmer on low for 10-15 minutes until heated thoroughly. Serve with grated cheese and sour cream on top with corn chips on the side.

  5. Step 5

    Garnish with lettuce or a fresh garden salad as a side dish.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure all grease is drained off the ground beef before adding other ingredients.
  • Remember to use the juice for all ingredients including corn, beans and green chilies.
  • Let the soup cool for a few minutes before eating.
  • If you do not like spicy food then omit the green chilies or use 1/2 the can.
  • Always use precautions when cooking in order to avoid injury.
