Here's a twist on an old classic... BBQ pork, vegan style! For those of you new to the vegan way of eating, seitan may be a little "different." For those of you used to seitan... heres a new recipe for you! Enjoy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 1 16oz package of seitan strips (or chunks cut into strips)
  • 2 1/2 cups vegetarian bbq sauce
  • 4 sanwich rolls
  1. Step 1

Drain seitan and set off to the side. If you bought the chunks of seitan you can cut it into strips at this point, and set to the side. In a large pan, saute the onion in vegetable oil over high heat until soft.

  2. Step 2

Add seitan, and cook until lightly browned, stirring often as to avoid burning. Add BBQ sauce of your choice, reduce to medium heat, and cook, stirring often. Continue stirring every few minutes until the bbq sauce has thickened and has completely coated the seitan.

  3. Step 3

To spice up your bbq seitan add a few tsp of hot sauce to taste. Once desired taste is reached spread bbq seitan on rolls and serve. Add lettuce, tomato and onions to your roll to make your sandwich more complete!!! Dig in and enjoy!
