How to Setup Wireless Security

Things You'll Need:

• Wireless router
• Wireless card for PC
• Broadband internet

1. First you will have to enter the wireless router.p You can do this by opening up a internet browser. In the URL area type in your routers I.P. address. For a linksys router for example it is 192.168.1.1

2. You will get a screen that pops up. Just type in admin for the username and password.

3. Goto the Wireless tab in the router. Type in any name for the SSID. You can choose any name you wish. Write this down just in case you forget someday.

4. Where it says "Wireless SSID Broadcast" click disable. This will make it so your SSID name will not be seen by any other computers scanning the waves.

5. Under the "Wireless" tab goto wireless security. Here you will setup the encryption and security mode. Use "WPA" for the security mode and "TKIP" for the encryption. For the passphrase type in anything. Just make it something unique and nothing anyone will guess.
