How to Register A Domain
Domains allow users to access your website with a simple address, such as "mydomain.com." When you register a domain, you will need to decide upon both a name and a top-level domain (TLD). Examples of TLDs to choose from include .com, .net and .org. Only legitimate Internet registrars who are accredited by ICANN have the authority to grant you a domain name, and their business is to make the registration process fast and simple.

1
Navigate to your chosen registrar website.
-
2
Enter your preferred domain name into the area where it is asked. Although different registrars' websites will look slightly different, most of the essential information and steps are the same.

3
Click the "Search" button. A search will be done to let you know if your chosen domain name is available. If the name is not available, most sites will offer you alternative name choices. Once you have found a domain name that is acceptable and available, you are ready to go to the next step.
-
4
Click the "Add to cart" button or the "Continue" button, depending on the site.
-
5
Enter the information required to continue with purchasing your domain. Most sites will require that you register an account. If you don't already have an account, you will have to choose a user name and password and continue on with your name and address and other information. If you do have an account, you will simply log in at this point.
-
6
Enter your choice of payment. Most registrars will accept PayPal and major credit cards such as Visa or MasterCard. A domain is generally registered for one year, and the prices vary depending on the registrar. There will probably also be an option to choose to register for more than one year if you wish. Usually when a registrar gives this option, they also offer some sort of savings for registering multiple years.
