Step 1
The first step to opening a nursing home is to get a license. Each state has license requirements and some may be different from others, so be sure to check with your local state government to be sure of these requirements. Some of these requirements are:

You must be 21 years of age or older, a good background, a required educational background, and some experience in certain nursing programs. An exam can also be required.

After working on your license, you must then work on finding or building a facility that comes to code for the standards of a nursing home.

Each nursing home should be homelike, with warm colors, and a good floor plan with access to the outdoors. The facility should be clean, with the correct ventilation. Accessibility and safety is also an important role in the home.

The facility should be staffed with the correct amount of nurses and cleaning crew.
